Specific Responsibilities

To improve the business’ sales and profitability through commercial and strategic control of supply chain & sourcing. liaise closely with the commercial & service functions to identify and maximise opportunities to sell existing and new product ranges. Drive meaningful, data based initiatives to present significant cost reductions and increased service levels. Drive down inventory whilst maintaining forecasted demand. Take strategic ownership of inventory & drive robust, business-wide disciplines in stock & obsolescence management.


Manage merchandise and procurement teams to ensure all business areas and customer needs are sufficiently and effectively resourced.


Ensure commitment levels are managed in line with forecasted sales targets. Report latest order book and anticipated trading positions against budget/forecast sales levels and report any exception costs/activities that may affect budgeted/forecast profit levels.


Ensure that all new business systems are integrated and communicated effectively. Investigate how continued development of business systems can improve cash flow/profitability.


Managing stock levels in accordance with budget/forecast sales levels. Communicate to the relevant Commercial Manager, any exceptional issues that may impact on achieving the business sales and profitability levels


Communicate and report on any issues with the Managing Director and Production Director. Communicate effectively with Commercial teams to ensure achievement of critical dates – manage the actions required to deal with any exceptions that may cause delays to agreed dates with customers.


Oversee 3rd party logistics provider and ensure that freight rates and warehousing expenses are at or below market level.


Produce comprehensive monthly management report, commenting on previous months trading performance and latest inventory position. Ensure that all US packing and processing requirements are achieved in line with delivery/flow requirements.


Effectively negotiate with 3rd party vendors to ensure competitive/best pricing and quality service.


Skills and Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain or Business Management.  MBA or Masters Degree in related field preferred.

Sourcing international and domestic vendors and products experience required for 10 years, ideally in pharma, oral hygiene/OTC

10 years of senior management in a complex multi-SKU business in manufacturing, logistics and inventory control


Experience in senior, multi-national supply chain management, with a proven track record in implementing positive business change

Extensive business awareness gained from exposure in demanding supply chain environments


Experienced in establishing and managing multi-site, international supply operations, with both subcontractors and in-house operations


Excellent planning and organizational skills


High literacy/competency in ERP or similar such business-wide software systems   


A strong understanding of financial management and wider management principles and techniques


Strong personal credibility and the ability to quickly develop a well-disciplined team.

Able to represent the business at board level.
