Specific Responsibilities

We are a high growth business unit within Li & Fung Limited, a leading consumer goods design, development, sourcing, and logistics company for major retailers and brands worldwide. We work with a wide range of North American customers, from mass market retailers to department and specialty stores. We specialize in outerwear, swim and activewear in all genders.  We are looking for a summer intern who is enthusiastic about working in a fast paced and highly entrepreneurial environment to join our team.  You will have hands on opportunity to work to create the Fall 2019 collection right from the start of the development cycle.


This is a full-time, paid internship, starting June 4th  through August 10, 2018. The program includes bi-monthly meetings with industry executives, volunteer opportunities, and the chance to make a real impact on the company through a long-term summer project designed by executives.

Location: New York, New York

Hours: 40/week

Paid: $13/hour


Conduct online trend research from Industry Trend websites and produce reports and findings

Conduct online and field competitive analysis for our key customers and produce reports and powerpoint

Assist with creating and modifying CADs and product line sheets

Assist with day-to-day design team activities including organization and logging of samples, fabric swatches, trims

Assist with physical organization and digitization of raw material libraries (including fabric and trims)

Assist with other ad hoc assignments

Participate in 3D design creation for candidates with previous 3D exposure      

Skills and Requirements

  • Relevant coursework in fashion CAD design.  Exposure to 3D design software / technique is a plus (e.g. Browzwear, Optitex, Clo)
  • Appreciation for aesthetics
  • Ability to deliver quality work under time pressure and deadlines
  • Skilled in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, working in either a PC or Mac environment
  • Familiarity with overall garment related processes – including construction, pattern making, etc    
  • College student entering junior or senior year in August 2018
  • Well-versed in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently
  • Analytical skills and strong decision-making capabilities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to set priorities and handle multiple tasks
