    We are seeking an experienced CAD Designer in our New York City office.

    The CAD Designer supports the design team in the seasonal design development process by creating and rendering design concepts into CAD designs, and working with the Design Director and manufacturing partners to ensure accurate execution.

     

     

    Job Description

    Strategy & Innovation • Partner with Design to develop, test and pilot tools that ease workflow, resolve user issues and enhance CAD work products; collaborate with design team to devise, implement and adjust CAD procedures for maximum efficiency within seasonal design development process.   Create embroideries and screen prints. Design prints, make repeats and colorways.

     

    Operations & Results • Partner with designers, under guidance of Design Director, to understand and design into approved seasonal concepts, colors and line plans; leverage most current CAD methods to achieve desired aesthetics in knit and woven applications, painterly techniques and accurate construction qualities • Ensure assigned CAD work is presentable for key meetings and mill-ready for submission by calendar targets. • Establish, manage and ensure maintenance of current CAD standard procedures for file naming conventions, directory structure, archiving, color matching, Ai/Spec connectivity, and on-line submission process to production partners; manage appropriate storage and maintenance of CAD files

     

    Customers & Relationships • Manage communications between CAD and internal/external working partners, including color, design, merchandising, fabric research and development, overseas offices, technology vendors, print studios and IT to provide necessary CAD services, troubleshooting and resolution of CAD-related support issues • Manage all incoming CAD issues; troubleshoot problems and document resolution; support CAD development by providing user testing and pilot coordination, where applicable

     

    Leadership & Teams • Contribute positively to team dynamic and manage up where necessary • Attract, develop and retain talent

    Skills and Requirements

    • Superior organizational skills and excellent communication skills; team oriented
    •   Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines; highly detail-oriented, meticulous and creative
    •  Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion or Textile Design • Strong proficiency in NedGraphics or similar CAD software, skilled in Microsoft Office, Adobe products and Mac computers; understanding of database architecture and network topology
    •  Familiarity with garment construction, pattern making, color ways, print design and manufacturing
    • •4-7 years designing textiles or CAD design, experience in knits and wovens, and setting artwork/patterns to be mill ready

    Good eye of details and able to use different techniques in a print.
